Shelter Pup Now “Detective LuLu,” ME Canine 2, San Diego County Medical Examiner & Forensics Center
On June 25, 2010 LuLu was adopted by Dr. Glenn N. Wagner, Chief Medical Examiner for the County of San Diego. He found the four-year-old German shepherd on the website of the San Diego County Department of Animal Services. After visiting her at the North Shelter in Carlsbad, Dr. Wagner recognized that LuLu would be the perfect candidate to fill the position of ME Canine 2, a second cadaver search dog for the new, state-of-the art Medical Examiner & Forensics Center. Theila, a bloodhound known as ME Canine 1, will help train LuLu over the next 18 months in air sniffing, tracking and trailing. Once again, LuLu proves that “Shelter Dogs Rock!” For the complete story written by Lillian Cox in The San Diego Union-Tribune on Aug. 1, 2010 visit: www.signonsandiego.com For more details and photos visit Lillian Cox’s blog at thebiggestlosercanine.blogspot.com For Lillian Cox’s website visit www.lilliancox.com
