Obama should’ve kept his word on shelter dog
I am so disappointed in the Obama family’s choice for a new puppy.
How can you say over and over that “the girls will be getting a shelter dog” and then not follow through with it?
Four million dogs are put to death each year. Yes, we are lucky to have a no-kill shelter in our town. Check out www.dogsendanger.com for more statistics.
I realize this was a “gift” from Teddy Kennedy, but come on, does getting a family pet have to be political, too?
If we were lied to about this minor thing, what else is going on that we’re not privy to? Dogs are much happier with another dog around and if they would adopt one from a shelter, I would feel so much better.
Pure breds can be found at shelters; allergy free dogs can be found at shelters; yes, you may have to spend some time looking, but they are available. I would be happy to be looking for that special dog for them, if they would adopt it.
I hope the backlash that this is going to generate results in one dog being saved and getting the privilege of living in the White House.
