ADOPTED!!! PUMA the CANE CORSO – MASTIFF – MOLLOSSUS- the redlisted shelter dog

One of the Los Angeles, CA, shelters, as overcrowded as it was, encountered a visit by the “owners” of this purebred cane corso, with intentions of surrendering their loyal family dog forever. This frightened helpless dog was unneutered, which was even worse, since that alone created an environment where every aggressive male or female dog staired him down as he entered the building- with raised tails, smelling his testosterone, they were all ready to challenge him to a fight “just because they could.” He was the insecure frightened new kid in town…. The so-called owners were surrendering their dog because they refused to get a breeder’s license – they refused to pay the money, and neutering their dog was not an option: the dog would be of no use to them if they could not breed him. Was this their only source of income? Puppy sales? Their family dog was as good as dead to them if they could not use him as a stud, so they dumped him at the shelter and went on with their shallow selfish lives. Who cares if their family dog will now be on deathrow, at risk of being euthanized ?? WE HAVE NEWS FOR THE SELFISH OWNERS WHO DUMPED THEIR DOG: SOMEONE CARED!!! Sure enough, this handsome boy had only 2 days to live when LA animal rescue networkers put the word out and “a Few Good Women” offered a very small donation to help with financial aid to cover transportation costs, and a few days of boarding. Now in safe hands, this handsome fellow is receiving daily obedience training

Cane Corsos are loyal by nature and that is what is so great about Corsos they will die for there masters! So glad you saved him. I hope you can keep him they are the best dogs to own. If you find him a new home you may get depression. These dogs give onwers well loving owners a companion ship like no other that is why they make great show dogs.

Yay for puma!! I myself rescued a blue brindle female corso identical to puma.. Only difference is mine has a slight higher ear crop… Thank you so much for helping him to safety! They are truly amazing dogs… When I got my girl out I had to feed her the same way, then I had to be in the room and now, she eats perfect! How much are you feeding puma ? He looks very healthy! All of the people that are commenting negative are the group of people that should NEVER have a dog, especially one who r

    Hullo very beautiful UnleashMyHeart,
I see you are making a lot of important & creditworthy work for helping not lucky dogs. I am afraid a lot of them are ex fighters from the ring: a very terrible thing! I was a fighter (Savate French Boxe) in my youth but I will never accept that we socalled human beings use dogs for bloodthirsty purposes of stupid fun, Combat (& legal) sports are for men: a dog can die for protecting us because he loves us NOT for cheering the pervets.
    Thanks for sharing

  22. guerrierodelgiaguaro on March 10th, 2011

This Corso (very typical too) loves you so much that interrupts to eat just when you go away: he needs you and forget the food also if he was starving until few days before.
I know the Cane Corso very well: he is a true Gladiator with a big sweet heart and Puma gives evidence of this.
Best regards from Italy, the fatherland of Cane Corso.
    Stefano

No offense but people don’t care about kids in foreign countries dying or being oppressed. They’re humans, which should come first. Now I’m not saying abuse that cool dog but it’s sad when I see people care more about a healthy dog, than a child in Africa dying of hunger with all sorts of ringworms and other parasites.

  24. SachiBear on March 10th, 2011

Kudos to you for rescuing him! We have a cane that follows us everywhere, so what he did is not a surprise!! I completely share your feelings about people who can simply discard their animals….once you get a dog you’ve got it through better or worse. I don’t understand how people can do that to a member of their family. There are many times when I like dogs more than people…but again I raise my glass to you for rescuing him!

God bless you, I have a cane corso and could never imagine hurting her. You have adopted a loyal friend for life. What a beautiful gentle giant!
